Happy Friday, friends! We had a great trip to Nashville (which is why we didn't share our favorites last week but not to worry...the past two weeks are overlapped into lots of favorites below!). Little R turned 8 months last week. The cliche saying that the days are long but the years are short has never rang truer it seems. He recently started waking at random times in the middle of the night. I asked around, and many mamas replied they had experienced something similar around this age. Some said it could be night terrors, others said the 45 minute intruder or perhaps just a growth spurt. His cry sounded like he was in pain but when I would get him up he was content, or simply really hungry. I was alarmed that we were creating a new habit by going in and comforting him. It took about an hour to get him back asleep, and I would do so by either rocking him in the dark or putting him in his stroller with white noise nearby. Needless to say, it made for some long nights and sleepy days. Thankfully, the culprit made himself known two nights ago. Little R's first tooth. Now that it's broken through he seems to be sleeping better, too. I don't know if I should expect this pattern as more teeth pop up but I find comfort in knowing what the issue is exactly. And I find myself savoring the time rocking him in the late hours of the eve while all is peaceful and quiet. I know that sweetness will pass all too quickly.
Now on to our Friday Favorites...For little R… flying on a plane to visit friends in Nashville rocking on all fours (he'll be crawling any day now) teething on carrots & a boon spoon (who would've thought...he loves both!
For myself… starting the cinder block raised bed for our spring garden visiting Paper&Ink Arts store in person (best place to buy calligraphy supplies) seeing our photos from my sister's wedding published in flower mag! loving clare owen's illustrations
For all the mamas & mamas-to-be… realizing how you can make a small home cute and functional for kiddos craving these breakfast cakes, greek pasta, & stuffed sweet potatoes reading introspectives into pregnancy sharing Plan to Eat (a meal planning site)
What is your little one's favorite teething remedies? Did you experience night wakings during this time? If so, any suggestions on making it through? Enjoy the weekend. xo...*holly
