We decided to sign up for a CSA (community supported agriculture) this fall. It started 3 weeks ago, and we are savoring the season's closing of a few beloved summer vegetables including okra. If you've been to the South, chances are you've eaten it...you know its slimy texture in your gumbo, or its delicious fried crunch. It's never been a veggie I would pick up myself at the market (one good reason to join a CSA) but it's been a fun change in the kitchen learning what to do with it that all of us will enjoy. And who knew all the health benefits it has to offer? I steered clear of the usual stewing method, and instead tried oven frying it and roasting it. The fried version was delicious (how could it not be?). I don't know what I did wrong with the roasting but it was very tough to chew through, making it hard for little R to enjoy. He did enjoy the taste so if we get it in our box this week I think a stew is in order for next week. Are you an okra fan? Please share your favorite way to prepare it, especially if you have a good way that little ones enjoy! *bisous...holly. PS - Don't forget to enter our GIVEAWAY going on for a couple more days. Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement with the new launch of Maison Everett!
