These aren't the prettiest photos you'll see of my home. They're a more realistic look at the particular areas that you don't typically seen in anyone's home and that are the most likely to get disorganized and full of nonessentials. I'm sharing them with you because its part of my first goal for the new year - a house cleanse. Think of it in the same way as a master cleanse for your body, except for your house. A couple of months ago I start feeling overwhelmed with all the things that just don't have a place or that we no longer need. I tend to put them behind 'closed doors' - out of sight out of mind, right? Not really. Since we live in a modestly sized home with limited storage, the closets and cabinets started to get so cluttered that I stopped putting anything in its right place. And when my house becomes disorganized, other areas of my life become disorganized. So, I finally decided to put the master house cleanse at the top of my 2014 to-do. I will be going through every room and purging out anything that we haven't used in awhile or that we simply don't need. I have already finished a few rooms, and here are what the spaces look like after the cleanse... My goal is to have all the rooms cleansed before we leave for our vacation next week. I put each room on my to-do for a separate day and don't let myself fall asleep without taking care of it. As you can see I have two rooms that are awaiting their turn (R's today, and mine tomorrow!)... It already feels better in our home knowing that so much of the clutter is out. I'm learning to hold on to the things that are truly special and be free of the guilt to get rid of the rest. I used to be terrible at it, but its getting better over time and this cleanse is surely helping. Have you ever done a ''master cleanse''? What are your top goals for starting 2014 feeling clutter free and ready to go?
