Remy's nursery is a bit of an eclectic mix if you will. Like every room in our home, I wanted his space to be warm, inviting and filled with a collection of things sentimental to us. I knew I wanted to use a few of my grandmother's pieces (the antique dresser + the daybed) so those served as the foundation to build upon. I then decided on the Harper crib made by Giggle and Leah Duncan's Maya fabric collection. I was instantly in love with both. From there, the room took it's form based on things I had been collecting as well as handmade pieces just for him.
The balloon mobile was a gift from our baby shower handmade by a friend. The painting was also made by a friend whose kiddos I once babysat years ago (they are now in college!). They came by to visit shortly after Remy was born and surprised us with this painting to go over his crib about a month later. So sweet and thoughtful, yes?
The "Remy" train was a gift that Grams (my step-mom) picked up while traveling in Italy. The "ABC of What Art Can Be" book I bought a couple of years ago when I worked at Anthropologie.
The top left art piece was hand embroidered by my talented friend, Alex. The bottom left turtle was handmade by Gigi (my mom). The bike with thumbprint balloons was the guestbook from our baby shower...such a clever idea by my sweet hostesses. I use my grandmother's dresser as his changing station. I have his 1st Year Keepsake Calendar hanging on the left side of the dresser. I love the design, its a perfect way for me to keep up with his month-to-month happenings, and it can be made into a scrapbook once complete. The metal cart to the right is used to hold diaper supplies (we cloth diaper but more on that another day;)
I bought the blue copy of Peter Pan while in Scotland visiting J.M.Barrie's birthplace. It is my favorite children's storybook, and it's probably one of my favorite things in his room;) I can't wait until he's old enough for us to read the story together.
Oaf the bear was given to me by a friend when I was younger. I couldn't wait to pass him on to my babes one day. The quilt he's laying on was handmade by a friend who also made the crib sheets and changing pad all from the Leah Duncan fabrics. I simply told her what fabric collection I liked, and she made everything so perfectly.
His animal friends were all gifts! I especially love his "Greta pup blankie" (the one the others are sitting on)...he sleeps with it every night now. Greta is our goldendoodle that looks very similar to the blankie:) Lastly, this little shelf was given to us from Aunt Tori & Uncle Jack (my sis & bro-in-law) before their big move to NYC. We picked up the wooden pinocchio calendar in Santorini, Greece, on our honeymoon. The date displays little R's birthday. And the photographs are a couple of my favorites from when he was a mere two weeks young! There you have it. Little Remy's whimsical and sentimental living space. It wouldn't be the same without all the pieces from friends and family that love us so well.
